  • Welcome to the Steamboat Springs Early Childhood Center!
This public school early childhood program is committed to serving all children, both with and without special needs, in an integrated preschool environment. It is the belief of the Steamboat Springs School District that students with varying needs and abilities will benefit from working together in the same classroom. The provision of integrated educational services to young children promotes their potential for learning and enhances their understanding of, and respect for others.
  • NWBOCES
NWBOCES special service providers and our education staff provide activities that include all children, as well as specific activities for children with individual education plans (IEP). These activities are done within the classroom environment, and complement the learning that is already taking place.
  • High-quality Preschool
"Children who attend high-quality preschool enter kindergarten with better pre-reading skills, richer vocabularies, and stronger basic math skills than those who do not," says NIEER director W. Steven Barnett, PhD.
  • Where are we?
We are located on the corner of 8th Street and Aspen Street. If you have questions or would like to register, please call 879-0652 or 879-7550.

A message from Superintendent Brad Meeks - Steamboat Springs School District
On July 18, the Steamboat Springs School District Board of Education directed the school district administration to proceed with pursuing a 7-year $12.9 million bond to fund three critical infrastructure projects and an ongoing mill levy with a set mill levy amount that will generate $1 million in the first fiscal year. The ongoing mill levy will create a permanent source of funds for capital renewal needs of the district. Steamboat Springs School District voters will have a chance to consider these projects in November.

If funded, the bond will address necessary roof replacements in five facilities as well as the installation of a comprehensive heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system in Steamboat Springs Middle School. Investments will also be made to restore Gardner Field to a state-of-the-art “classroom” as well as a central gathering point in our community. The ongoing mill levy funding would allow us to promptly address maintenance projects, particularly those that affect health, safety, and equitable environments for students and staff.

For more than a year, the Community Committee for Education (CC4E) has brought the community together, raised awareness of the issues and challenges faced by the school district, and prompted meaningful discussion. While many thoughtful solutions have been raised, the decision to pursue these specific projects and ongoing funding was driven by four core values: safety, student success, transparency, and longevity.

If funded, these investments compared to last year’s school tax based on $500,000 of market value, will increase residential property owners taxes an estimated additional $3.25 a month / $39 a year per $500,000 market value of residential property; and for $500,000 of market value of a commercial property an estimated additional $36 a month / $434 a year.

In the coming weeks and months, you will be able to access factual information about the bond and mill levy issues on our website.
November 7, 2017 Ballot Measures - Bond & Mill Levy
At Monday night's school board meeting, the Steamboat Springs School District Board of Education unanimously approved the ballot language regarding the $12.9 million bond projects and a mill levy that will generate $1 million in the first fiscal year dedicated to ongoing capital renewal needs of the district. Steamboat Springs School District voters will have a chance to consider these projects in November.

If funded, the bond will address necessary roof replacements in five facilities as well as the installation of a comprehensive heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system in Steamboat Springs Middle School. Investments will also be made to restore Gardner Field for continued use as a classroom as well as a central gathering point in our community. The ongoing mill levy funding would allow the district to address maintenance projects.

If funded, these investments compared to last year’s school tax based on $500,000 of market value, will increase residential property owners taxes an estimated additional $3.25 a month/$39 a year per $500,000 market value of residential property; and for $500,000 of market value of a commercial property an estimated additional $36 a month/$434 a year.

These initial projects are considered Phase I. Later this fall, the district will begin to assemble various sub-committees to address future needs of the district. These sub-committees will address program improvements and enrollment growth under Phases II & III to develop longer term solutions for our facilities.

Since the board took action on the ballot language on August 28, 2017, the requirements of the Fair Campaign Practices Act (FCPA) are now in place.

SchoolBlocks offers a unique and powerful personalized search system. A member of the public, searching for "homework" might see an announcement from the school as the first result. However, if the user is logged in, they would see their teacher’s latest homework assignment as the top result.
